IPL Auction 2024 : Rovman Powell took the lead in the auction, and Harry Brook of England lost.

The IPL 2024 auction has begun, with the West Indies star player Rovman Powell fetching the highest bid of Rs 7.4 crore after a thrilling battle between Kolkata Knight Riders and Rajasthan Royals over his base price of Rs 1 crore. Powell was a member of the Delhi Capitals last season before being released by the team.

How was Rovman Powell’s IPL performance?

Powell made his IPL debut for the Delhi Capitals in the 2022 season. Prior to this, he had participated in 17 matches, scored 257 runs, claimed 1 wicket, and had a strike rate exceeding 146. In the upcoming season, Powell will don a pink jersey instead of a blue one and be leading Rajasthan, which is captained by Sanju Samson, to victory.

Harry Brook Suffered a Big Loss in IPL Auction 2024

England’s Harry Brook was released by Sunrisers Hyderabad and will now play for Delhi Capitals in the upcoming auction. The English player was originally purchased by Sunrisers Hyderabad for Rs 13.25 crore last year; thus, they lost Rs 9.25 crore this time around. His base price was Rs 2 crore. Delhi Capitals placed the highest bid on him, winning him for Rs 4 crore.

Karun Nair Remains Unsold in IPL Auction 2024

Riley Rousseau, the star player from South Africa, and Karun Nair, the Indian player who has scored a triple century, failed to find a buyer. According to his base price of 2 crores, he went unsold in the first set. He was a member of the Delhi Capitals last season, but as of right now, no franchise has expressed interest in signing him for the upcoming season. In addition, there was a competition between the Chennai Super Kings and Sunrisers Hyderabad for global hero Travis Head.
